Close to 6000 people showed up to take advantage of free shoes, games, gifts for the children from Santa, food hampers and music and a message from a local church. View pictures of the trip here.
NOVEMBER 2008
PUERTO PENASCO, MEXICO
Members of Gold Canyon Community Church (GCCC) travelled to
The church teamed with One Mission ( www.onemission.us ) of Glendale, Arizona who provided meals and housing for the workers allowing the GCCC team the opportunity to focus on constructing the 440 sq. ft. home and spending time with the family and surrounding neighbors. GCCC’s team was comprised of 39 people ranging in age from 5 to 65. During the 3 day trip the younger children spent time playing with the local children while a few of the church women visited surrounding homes, providing the local women with household items, kids clothing and prayer support. The local women were more than happy to invite visitors into their homes for a visit.
Providing a simple 22 ft by 22 ft house provides the family with not only a roof over their heads but also hope for the future. Those involved in this project were just as blessed by the experience as the family who received the home.
